Things are Heating Up

We had our first Tilton Farmer’s Market last Tuesday which was fantastic. We are prepping for our second one now. Lots of baking going on at the beginning of the market season. Just a reminder if you want a guaranteed baked good, you should place your order through Hot Plate. We will have yours reserved with your name on it. They sold out fast last week along with the vegetables. You can sign up for text reminders there as well. You will get a text message when the store goes live. That way, you won’t have to worry about remembering to check – you’ll get a reminder.

The Gilmanton Community Farmer’s Market starts this Sunday, June 9th. We will be a pop up vendor there, attending 6 markets. The first market, the last market and the last Sunday of each month. Market opens at 11. We will have some baked goods there in addition to vegetables and jam. They are not allowing us to bring our maple syrup or flowers.

We just created a calendar event on Facebook for our grand opening of our farm stand which will be June 16th. The hours will be 10-6 Sundays through Wednesdays. This will be an honor system farm stand. We will accept, Venmo, cash (exact change) and checks. If we are around (and we usually are) we can also accept credit cards. The stand will be stocked with in-season vegetables, fruit and flowers, jams, maple syrup, granola and one day will be a dedicated baked goods day. I have not decided which day but would welcome your input.

Garden Status

Lastly, Keith and I have been keeping up. Everything is planted and weeded. It’s looking good in the greenhouses and the field. The flowers are coming along. Here is a video of the back field. I tried to upload it here but it is too big so sharing the link from our Facebook post.

Man foliar feeding plants in a green house

Here’s a picture of Keith foliar feeding. We use a leaf blower. The fish emulsion is in the white tank. He sprays all the plants. You do this first thing in the morning or when the sun is setting. The birds are singing and the “pores” on the leaves open up because of the bird’s singing and they are able to take in the nutrients from the feeding.

That’s it for now folks. Until next time, farmer out. Have a lovely week. Michelle and Keith
