Read Books!

stack of books with one of them open

For some reason I was really into reading books in 2024. I read 34. For me that is super good. Mind you, this is for pleasure reading only. What I discovered is that I really like listening to audio books. Which I find interesting since I’ve always gravitated towards holding a book and flipping the pages. You can really read a lot when you are listening to books. You can multi-task. I was listening to books when I was driving a car, doing a puzzle, weeding the garden, knitting/crocheting. Just yesterday I discovered Good Reads. This place “stores” the books you’ve read and the books you want to read. I know I have to keep track of what I’ve read. If I don’t, I forget and might purchase the same book again! When I’m done with the book, I sell them so I don’t have them to refer to; hence the reason to keep a list.

Here’s the Breakdown

Of the 34 books I read, 14 were audio the rest were hard cover. I didn’t grasp the audio bug until late summer. I will list out the books that I marked as 5 stars in case you are interested.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
  • The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon
  • The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
  • The Outlaw Noble Salt by Amy Harmon
  • Kill for Me, Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh
  • The Night we Lost Him by Laura Dave
  • The Goddess of Warsaw by Lisa Barr
  • The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware
  • The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
  • What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon

I had two that I rated with 4 1/2 stars and 12 that I rated with 4 stars. So overall I’m happy with my picks.

You can get a lot of book suggestions from Meagan’s Book Club on Instagram. I started following her this year and get many of my book recommendations from her. It also appears you can get many suggestions from Good Reads as Well. Happy Reading!
