I’ve been an email subscriber of Joel Salatin’s for a very long time. I have lots of his books. He is a farmer inspiration doing it right. If you haven’t heard, he has been asked by the Trump transition team to be an advisor to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In my opinion, any many others, this is fantastic news.

The reason we have always grown our own food is because we don’t know/trust what the ingredients are in the grocery store foods. With Joel Salatin in the picture, it looks like the food situation in America may be improving and that is such good news.
If you are not familiar with Joel Salatin, he is a farmer in Virginia that raises animals for meat, cows, pigs and chickens and does it in a responsible way over many acres that he owns. He has done this for many years and now his children and grandchildren will follow him. He has been a speaker at countless events all over the world. He has a way about him and he is funny – he definitely holds your attention. He speaks the truth about what is going on.
Anyway, in his latest blog post, which I will link here if you want to read it, I learned something new and I’m sharing it here. I always thought that the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) represented farmers but apparently they do not. Quoting here from the blog post: (AFBF)…”It is actually an insurance company masquerading as a farm outfit. Over my lifetime, no group has been as opposed to my initiatives as AFBF. They are not the farmers’ friends; they are friends of big ag, food processors and nutritional and environmental destruction.”
So you have to ask yourself if Joel Salatin’s initiatives are good and make sense in farming, then why doesn’t the AFBF support them? Well apparently, what Joel Salatin is saying seems to be truth – they don’t support the farmers. Anyway, you can do your own research but this makes so much sense to me.
In closing, after fully reading this blog post, it is disheartening to see who 4 of the 15 contenders are for the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. If one of those bozos gets in as secretary (excluding Massie), how will anything get accomplished when Salatin wants to do it the responsible, no chemical way opposed to Monsanto and Round Up freaks. Makes me mad…
