Healthy Choices

You may have noticed that I have been blogging about non-farm related things this winter. I have!! We’ve always felt the need to educate folks about their soil but now Michelle is feeling the need to educate about healthy choices. You will continue to see these types of post throughout our slower months (primarily November-February)

Instead of sugar - use honey

Take a look at the picture above. Get rid of the white sugar! We use evaporated cane juice in place of sugar called for in all of our recipes. It’s not perfect but it is a healthier choice than the white sugar you buy in the grocery store. You can go one step further and use honey instead or maple syrup. Honey and maple syrup are a less processed sweetener and it’s a natural sweetener so it doesn’t hit you so hard and make you tired after.

Check out the Dirty Dozen post I did here and the codes that you find on our produce here.

I could go on about food substitutions when you are baking. If you want to know more about substitutions, let me know and I will explore doing a future blog post.

And, saving the best for last!! I have officially retired from the law office. I have been a legal secretary/paralegal for a long time. I have worked in that field since 1985. Phew, that’s a long time. Wait a minute, I can’t be that old? So looking forward to not sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day. We’ve got a lot planned for the farm this year – new things. We will slowly unveil them as the warmth begins to set in.

Farmer out.
