Here’s some pictures of Keith foliar spraying the garden. Spray contains calcium, fish emulsion (2-3-1) for spring growth with seaweed, bio-magic and a bit of molasses. Other pictures of the garden that is starting to come around. And our tomato plants with our cattle panel trellis system.

Bed Preparation
We thought we should post about what it takes to prepare a bed before we plant into it. For those of you who follow us, you know we feed our soil with nutrients that are severely lacking in many soils these days. Coincidentally, these same nutrients are also lacking in our bodies as well. By… Continue reading Bed Preparation
What we’ve been up to
It’s been a while since we’ve posted. Last weekend we trimmed the blueberries. Our hired help started working so that has helped us along with chores such as splitting wood for next year’s maple syrup season. More trees have been cut down along the stone wall – this wood will be for next year’s firewood… Continue reading What we’ve been up to
The Priviledge of Learning
It’s been a while since I’ve posted. We have been receiving great education in the past 2 ½ weeks. We’ve attended three different workshops/conferences. Our lastest was in Northhampton, Massachusetts where we had the pleasure of listening to John Kempf, Dan Kittredge and Derek Christianson speak about soil nutrition for two days. For our farm,… Continue reading The Priviledge of Learning
A Year in Review
As I went through pictures from this past year, I realize we really did accomplish a lot this year. We finished the drainage around the garden to help with the… Continue reading A Year in Review
Exciting Times…
Looking forward to the arrival of our bed former/plastic layer sometime this month. We plan on laying a lot of plastic next year and putting straw in between the rows to cut down on the weeding. This will also add some extra nutrients into the soil as the straw breaks down. Not sure if I’ve… Continue reading Exciting Times…
Yay…………….
25 tons of composted seaweed and crushed clam shells delivered yesterday! Â Boy is the garden going to be even happier next year!
So many things…
We are thankful for Sadie Jenkins who came to the farmers’ market with her resume looking for work. Â We hired her one week later. Â She has been great. Â Very knowledgeable. We are thankful for discovering Dan Kittridge and the Real Food Campaign classes. Â We have received so much information from these two classes and have… Continue reading So many things…
Nutrient Dense Food
Here’s a couple pictures. Â One of them is our lettuce mix. Â The other is a nearby weed. Â Look at how chewed up the weed is and not the lettuce mix. Â We are feeding our soil which increases the natural sugar content in our vegetables. Â Bugs don’t like that so they avoid it and gravitate towards… Continue reading Nutrient Dense Food
Another great day – May 25, 2012
Ok just finished day 2 of a 5 day weekend. Accomplished a lot today too much too list but the highlights were – eating the fresh greens from our garden (in the picture). Yesterday, we went to pick up rock dust from a MA farm – this is part of our remineralizing the land –… Continue reading Another great day – May 25, 2012
